Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Essay

Here is my essay which supports my opinion that Martin Luther King Jr. is a leader. Please do not plagiarize any part of my writing.

            Martin Luther King Jr. was a motivational leader that lived from January 15, 1929 to April 4, 1968. As a boy, he was a friend of a European child who played with him. Even though they were very similar to each other, and both shared the same personality, King was sent to a segregated school for African Americans. Despite the bad quality of the school, King was an amazing speaker. Later, the white boy’s father separated them because he did not like the idea of his son to play with Martin. This is just one of the reasons that contributed to the anger of Martin Luther King Jr. over racial discrimination. Later on in his life, he decided that he needed to stand up for all of the discriminated black people. King’s famous speech,  “I have a Dream”, changed the perspectives of many people about the horrible treatment of Negroes. Religion was also a major part of his life. More importantly, though, he thought that nonviolence was a great solution. That is another reason that he was a famous person. Martin Luther King Jr. embodies all the qualities and characteristics of a good leader, such as perseverance, speaking for everyone, showing the way, and staying firm.

            Speeches were not the only method of nonviolence, though. King also protested to get what he wanted. In the Montgomery bus boycott, King and many other blacks refused to get on buses unless they received fair treatment.  This idea came from Rosa Parks. She refused to get up from her seat, and give it up to a white man. Even though this was the right thing to do, she got sent to jail for not doing as she was told. The Birmingham Campaign was when King and the others protested which was intended to stop the segregation. However, the police were ready and “controlled” the situation with high-pressure water and dogs. Despite this barrier, King still did not give up. Bloody Sunday was another protest when King led indignant African Americans. This riot was about voting rights. King insisted that black people deserve to vote and that they are perfectly normal human beings.

            After Luther, there were also many other people who followed his example. That is because he demonstrated the qualities and traits of an effective leader. An example of a quality he possessed is gathering a group for a good reason. A few other qualities that he has, as I said before, are perseverance, self-reliance, and trustworthiness. He uses these qualities to lead a group. He uses perseverance because once he has his mind set on something, he does not give up until he has accomplished that task. A few examples of his perseverance are his protests that I have previously mentioned. He uses unity to show that he is standing up not just for himself, but for others too.

            Luther is a leader to me because, he is a perfect match for my definition of a leader. My definition of a leader is someone who never gives up, someone who not only tells the members of his group what to do, but he also does it with them He helps others and doesn’t force them to work, but motivates them by giving them reasons to stay. One reason that the members of King’s group should stay is that they should stand up and say that they deserve rights too. I can apply his qualities in my life too. If I am chosen to be a leader of a group, I will lead them, and guide them about what to do. I will give them ideas, and motivate them not to give up. I chose Martin Luther King Jr. as my leader because the way he talks is very motivating, and he is a born speaker. His ideas are also great, such as boycotting goods, and making people desperate to meet his demands.

            Martin Luther King. Jr. is an awesome leader and very propelling. He is composed, usually does not get frustrated, and keeps trying until he has accomplished whatever he wants to do. I am going to repeat his qualities because these are what make him as a leader. He absolutely never gives up, and maintains a group well. He also motivates people to join, and does his share of the work. He wanted to show to the others that black people deserve rights, and should not be at the bottom of the wait list. This is why I think that Martin Luther King Jr. is a perfect example of someone who shows leadership.
