My Snow Adventure
Yesterday, January 17 my dad decided that we were going to go to Soda Springs, a resort in Lake Tahoe. When I heard this news, I was very excited because that was going to be the first time I would see snow in my life. Soon later, we started packing. We packed all sorts of things from clothes to toothpaste to snacks. Whem we were done packing our belongings, we got ready. We made sure that all the doors were locked, and then we headed out.
It was a four hour drive, but we made a few stops. First we stopped at Subway for lunch. I ate half a sandwich, and drank some soda. When we were full, we went back to the car. Then my mom started driving. Our second stop was at a 76 gas station. There, we filled our tank with gas. Also, my brother went to the restroom and we got some chewing gum. My dad took over the wheel. Then, we started to see snow. I was so excited. I wanted to touch it, but my dad said that we had to wait until we reached Soda Springs.
When we reached, the resort was closed, but we went to look near it anyway. For about two minutes we played in the snow, but then, we had to go to the hotel because it was getting dark. We drove to the hotel and parked our car. Then we brought our stuff and checked in. Our room was small, but cozy. It had two double beds, a TV, a bathroom, 3 lamps, a desk and chair, and a microwave and a small fridge. We turned the TV on for a while, until it was time for dinner.
At around 6:30, we went to check out the restaraunts in the area. We checked out a spanish restaraunt. However, it didn't look that friendly, and it had a bad smell, so we went to a different one. I forgot the name of it, but it was a little better. We ate tacos, four burritos, and casilladeas. It was pretty good, and everyone liked it. When we reached home, we watched the first Transformers movie. Then we slept, Rohan and I, and mom and dad. It was hard to go to sleep, and I woke up for one and a half hours that night.
The next day, we woke up, brushed our teeth, took a shower and got ready. We were going to Soda Springs. We packed our stuff and got prepared to leave the hotel. At 10:30 or so we checked out and left. It was about twenty minutes to the resort, so it went bu pretty fast. We finally reached the resort! It was so much fun. We parked the car and walked to the resort. At first, I was scared because the snow was slippery, but soon, I could run back and forth easily. Then, my dad got tickets for us to go tubing. Tubing is exciting. You wait in the line, and when your turn comes, you get a ring like a tire, but filled with air. You go up the hill, and when the guy says go, you lie down, and go down the slope pretty fast. My dad and I did this two times, but then it was time for lunch. I ate a chicken burger, fries, and drank soda.
Then my dad said that we could go tubing one more time. This time we were racing. I was winning so far, but this time my dad really tried. It was close, but my dad won. The match ended in a tie. When I came out, I found out that Rohan was crying. Because of this, we left a few minutes later. My shoes were very wet. When we got in the car, I put them aside to dry. We drove back the 200 miles. Our next stop was at McDonalds. There, I got a McChicken. My brother got large fries, and my parents got a hazelnut flavored latte with whole milk, which my dad loved. We stopped at Target, because my brother had to use the bathroom. But by then, he was crying. We waited until he stopped, and we again started driving. We played a game in which you have to guess what time we woukd reach home. My mom guessed 5:56, I guessed 5:57, and my dad guessed 5:58. Nobody won, but my mom was closest by one minute.
I liked this experience because I have been wanting to go see snow for a long time, and I finally did.
