Kumon

I have been going to Kumon for 90 months now. I started at age 2 1/2 and I am going to turn ten in three months. In reading I have passed 22 levels and I am on the second last level. In math I have completed 14 levels, and I have 7 levels to go (including X).Reading ends at L and I am at K. Math ends at X and I am at I. In level  X you can choose whichever branch of math you want. It is after the level  O. Each level has 400 worksheets.

Rubik's Cube

I have been learning how to solve rubik's cubes since June. I started off simple with the 2x2 cube. Once I could solve it in thirty seconds, I moved onto the 3x3. This surprisingly took a shorter amount of time to learn than the 2x2. That was probably because when I first learned how to solve the 2x2 cube, I was starting from scratch. But when I got the 3x3, I could apply some of the 2x2 tricks. Two days after I got it, I could solve it. Now I can solve it in 1 1/2 minutes. On July 19, my dad's birthday, I got a 4x4. Solving the 4x4 is taking  around twenty minutes right now, but I am sure that I will speed up pretty soon. My mom and dad are also trying to learn the cubes and I am teaching them. The down side of this is that they don't have a lot of free time on their hands. My mom has learnt the 2x2 and 3x3, but along the process of learning  the 3x3, she forgot how to solve the 2x2. She is satisfied with the 3x3 and does not want to move on to the 4x4. My dad is  still ...

Boardwalk: Santa Cruz

On July 12, 2014 our family went on a trip to Boardwalk, a beach in Santa Cruz. During our prior visit, on July 6, we only stayed at the beach; we did not go on the rides. But this time we went for a longer time and we spent most of our time on the rides. The rides we went on were the "FreeFall" in which you sit down on a seat and they elevate you. Then they suddenly drop you down. But there was an even larger version of it and it wasn't even scary. It was barely 20 feet tall, but people were screaming. This was the least scary 'scary ride' I have ever been on. We also went on the "Train Adventure". It was a small kiddie ride in which there were weird animated statues doing things. It was dark and there was light that looked like Ultraviolet light. But I wasn't too disappointed when we came out of the train. My next favorite ride was the "Pirate Ship". There was a ship that was swinging back and forth very high. It was scary, but a fun kin...

My Backyard

Today, people came to clean our backyard. They did it very quickly (40 min.) and also made it very clean. They cut down the rose bushes so that it was short and had no leaves on it. It will grow back. Then they used a hoe and a leaf blower to blow the leaves out and raked it out. In the end, our backyard looked very clean and empty. It has been a long time since the last time we cleaned our backyard, so it had gotten very dirty. But now, it looks the exact opposite of that!

My July 4th weekend

This July fourth was my best experience yet. On Friday, July 4, we went to Adobe Park, and my dad clicked pictures of the family. After that we went to see firecrackers at Cardoza Park. My brother was very excited and kept clapping and jumping up and down. Then we went back home. On Sunday, we went to the beach. We had a lot of fun there and played in the water. I even buried myself in sand. Then when we came back home, I took a shower, got ready to go to swimming class. In the previous week I had passed the level "Sting Ray" and I am currently in "Dolphin". I only have two more levels to go . YAY!!! I had learned to do breaststroke kicks. Next time, I go, I will learn dolphin kicks. After swimming class, I went to music class. After that my music teacher had to go somewhere, but she cannot see, so Mrs. Kathy dropped her off. I had a very fun July 4th weekend.

How to Make Palatable Milk Chai

Ingredients: 1 3/4 cup milk - divided(low fat milk works best) A cherry sized piece of ginger 2 teaspoon sugar 1 1/2 teaspoon tea leaves/1 tea bag Directions: Pour one cup of milk in a medium sized pot. Turn your stove on in low high. Then, immediately after that, put your sugar in the milk. Then add your tea leaves or put in one tea bag. Crush your ginger and add to the chai. Boil on high for five minutes until the chai is a nice dark brown color. Stir in between. If the level of the chai rises to the brim, simply turn it back on low until it comes back down. Then turn it back on high. Once you have boiled it for five minutes, add the remaining 3/4 cup milk. Boil it for five more minutes until it is again dark brown. Your chai is ready. Sift the chai through a filter and serve immediately. Drink your chai along with some snacks.

My trip to India (of 2013)

It has been about a year since my last visit to India. In fact, three hundred sixty-five days ago, on July 1, 2013, I wrote a blog on how I liked India so far:  http://ravitsharma.blogspot.com/2013/07/my-trip-to-india-of-2013.html . I feel that India is a great place to have fun and to meet your relatives, however the only down side of India is that there is too much pollution. It is also very hot and the water is not as clean. I was falling sick almost every week because I was inhaling the dust and emissions from vehicles. However, in India, there was a lot of fun. We went on train rides and long car rides. In Mathura, I enjoyed playing with my cousins in India. I was originally planning to come to India this year, but that is not possible anymore, because school is about to start in a month. Now we are considering coming to India next year, in 2015.
